Managing Director
Juli Ann is a managing director of Edelman & Associates, a Boston-area executive search and technical recruiting firm. Working closely with the founder, Paul Edelman, she brings 15 years’ experience in executive search, managing an international consulting practice and recruiting for top-tier companies.
Juli Ann began her career as a practicing psychologist managing a psychotherapy clinic in Cambridge, MA, where she launched a management consulting practice blending business and psychology. Then, she took an “international break” and lived outside London for three years while exploring the world.
On returning to the States, Juli Ann turned her talents to executive search, becoming a Partner and Managing Director, first with Korn Ferry, and then with Russell Reynolds. Working closely with Global 1000 corporations in the Health Care Practice she conducted searches for companies involved in pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, biotechnology, and life sciences, devices and supplies, equipment and instrumentation. She had a front-row seat from which to observe business strategy and execution from the boardroom to the back office.
While conducting Board, CEO, and C-Level searches, Juli Ann also researched leadership styles and corporate cultures, and performed 360-degree performance evaluations. In 2004, this work led Tom Peters, the pioneering management consultant and author, to tap Juli Ann to become CEO of The Tom Peters Companies. Juli Ann rebuilt the firm’s consulting business and grew it to 29 employees serving domestic and international clients. She also led the firm’s groundbreaking Women’s Culture Study that provided insight into how women leaders build their cultures and retain talent.
Juli Ann’s board of directors experience includes chairing the Compensation committee for Daley and Wolcott, a $50 million software company (1995 – 1998). She served as President and CEO of The Boston Club, a 600 member and largest senior executive woman’s organization in New England (2000 – 2002) and Board member (1992 – 2003). From 2005 – 2008, Juli Ann was on the Women’s Leadership Board at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government where she served as the Chair of the Strategy Committee. Today, she also serves on the Board of Overseers for MassExcellence, the state-wide organization administering the Malcolm Baldrige Quality Awards.
